Husker fans from Boston to Malaysia can connect with each other and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln through Nebraska Alumni Association chapters.
Alumni chapters support the University of Nebraska in a variety of ways, from raising scholarship money for local students to attend UNL, to cheering for the Huskers at football watch parties. In addition, chapters create fun opportunities for members to get to know each other through social and networking events.
There are 63 Nebraska chapters across the country. There are several others in the development phase, mostly in Big Ten Conference country. Chapter membership has traditionally been concentrated in metro areas outside of the Big Ten states (with the exception of Chicago), but within days of the Big Ten announcement, the alumni association received several inquiries from alumni interested in starting or revitalizing chapters.
In July, the association helped Husker fans form a new chapter in Indianapolis—Hoosiers for Huskers. Revitalization efforts are underway in Minnesota, Michigan, central Ohio and Pennsylvania. The alumni association is also surveying Husker fans in Milwaukee, where there is interest in forming a chapter.
In addition, the alumni association is partnering with the Chancellor’s Office and alumni around the world to begin an international chapter program. A chapter was recently launched in Singapore, and an existing chapter in Malaysia was revitalized in the spring.
