Make a Difference - Volunteer!

Hundreds of alumni and fans hold volunteer positions in a Nebraska Alumni Association chapter.

Alumni and fans can give back to the university without writing a check. The Nebraska Alumni Association's Volunteer Opportunity Bank features several ways to make a difference by volunteering.

One of the most popular opportunities is Postcards Of Pride, part of the Alumni Admissions Program. Volunteers are supplied a list of prospective students from their state, along with the appropriate amount of NU postcards. Alumni are then asked to write a short message to their students. Research shows that along with a campus visit, personal contact is one of the most important considerations for students and parents when choosing a university or college.

Other current opportunities include:

• Peter Kiewit Institute Student Mentoring Program
• Nebraska Center for Materials & Nanoscience
• Nebraska 4-H Youth Development
• UNL Department of Psychology
• Alumni Chapter Volunteers
• College of Law Shadow Program
• Great Plains Art Museum Visitor Services
• Huskers for Higher Education
• Durham School Alumni Outreach
• LINC Mentoring Program
• International Quilt Study Center & Museum
• Sheldon Museum of Art Docent Program
• UNL Office of Admissions - Las Vegas

For details about these opportunities, visit the alumni association's Volunteer Opportunity Bank web page.
