Get L.A. treatment at party

« Go

The annual "Black and Platinum Party" is headed in a new direction.

Omaha entertainment promoter Chanell Hickey said he'll host his annual birthday bash inside a fine-dining restaurant this year instead of a traditional nightclub.

He booked the Passport Restaurant, 1101 Jackson St., for the 9 p.m. July 28 event.

"I want to be able to take people on an experience," Hickey said. "I'm taking one of Omaha's most prestigious restaurants and making it a lounge for the night."

A $35 ticket gets you a red carpet entry, paparazzi-style; an opportunity to dine at Passport from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.; unlimited Ciroc vodka all night. DJ Bishop will spin jams. A celebrity guest (someone in the hip-hop world who's also performing that weekend) will make an 11 p.m. appearance.

Hickey will give away a pair of Lil' Wayne tickets to his September show in Omaha. And another pair to his "Love & Laughter — Part 3" concert featuring Mint Condition, a R&B; band perfoming Sept. 30 at the Omaha Music Hall.

"I want people to get a feel of how you're treated in L.A. or New York," Hickey said.

In previous years, celebrities Vivica Fox and Kevin Hart have made appearances at the "Black and Platinum" bash.
