John Ursick, Executive Chef , Partner and all around Wine guy at Stokes Grill and Bar, located in Omaha's historic Old Market District, has some common sense tips, delivered with wit and logic that will help you choose the right wine for your own taste.

John demystifies the mysteries surrounding proper wine selection as well as wine etiquette and discusses such issues as how much to pay for a good bottle of wine, which wine to choose for which foods and what to do when the waiter brings the wine. Have you ever wondered if you can actually find a good wine with a screw cap or how about boxed wines? What do I do with the cork when the waiter removes it and hands it to me? John even has a solution for the wine headaches.

Many people who may contend that they don't like wine will find tips on finding one that truly matches their taste preferences as John explores some basic characteristics of white versus red.

The end of the matter is to simply relax, choose a wine that you think you might like, taste it and if you don't like it a good restaurant will always let send it back and try again.

For many years, Stokes smoldered in the dreams of two guys. They thought of warm tortillas, hand rolled enchiladas, crisp homemade salsas, oak-grilled steaks, cowboy beans….then, a Spark! Stokes opened its doors and its wood grill in the spring of 1997 to a city on the move. A city revitalized a city in need of perfect Southwestern food, and a place to get a great glass of wine as well as a little bit of help in choosing it.
