Bloom-Free Bouquets
Text and Photography by Chris Christen
Colorful buttons, costume jewelry, fabric flowers and feathers can look lovely clustered in “forever” bouquets. You can even incorporate military pins, Scout badges and other sentimental items collected from special people in your life. For assembly, you'll need craft wire, the right glue and a little patience. Build the “stems,” and then arrange the stems in a mound resembling a hydrangea bloom. Wrap the stems with a coordinating satin ribbon.
Omahan Megan Hunt's Princess Lasertron design boutique specializes in custom button-and-felt bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, hair accessories and more for brides. Hunt's precision-cut, hand-assembled creations “bloom” in multiple layers embellished with decorative stitching. We especially love the bouquets as keepsakes for flower girls and for tossing at wedding receptions.
