If you have an hour: Take the kiddos to a carnival. The University of Nebraska at Omaha Child Care Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a free outdoor carnival from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. Food, games and live music will be featured. The event is designed for current child care families, the UNO campus community and anyone who has been cared for at the center since it opened Aug. 25, 1986. The center is open year-round to children of UNO students, faculty, staff and alumni. Eligible kids are 18 months to 12 years old.
If you have two hours: Swing by the Village Pointe Shopping Center's Farmers Market. Select from just-picked produce along with meat, poultry, eggs and bedding plants this Saturday from 8 am. To 1 p.m. Information: villagepointeshopping.com
If you have an afternoon: Celebrate Kool-Aid Days in Hastings. There will be games, contests, gallons and gallons of Kool-Aid in 14 different flavors and even the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Kool-Aid Man Balloonicle. If you have a night off: Grab a lawn chair and pack a picnic. Movies in the Park continues this Friday at Bayliss Park in Council Bluffs. The movie starts after dusk (around 9 p.m.). If it rains, movies will be shown the following Saturday evening. This week's movie is "Tangled."
