Disney's “The Lion King” will return to the Orpheum Theater for a four-week run March 12, 2013, Omaha Performing Arts has announced.

The popular family musical, which had a record run here in 2007, headlines OPA's Broadway season for 2012-13.

The season package will also include “Shrek the Musical” in October, “Billy Elliot” in late November, “Memphis” in January 2013 and “The Addams Family” in May 2013. All four musicals are new to Omaha.

Disney's “Beauty and the Beast,” an optional add-on, returns here Dec. 14-16.

OPA President Joan Squires said this year, for the first time, all season-ticket price levels will include main-floor seats. Season tickets range from $148 to $416 and go on sale to the public May 8. Previous season subscribers can sign up earlier.

Here are some of the highlights of OPA's Broadway season. To see the list of OPA's full season, click here.

"Shrek the Musical," Oct. 23-28. Based on the 2001 animated movie and William Steig's 1990 book about an ogre, a princess and a donkey who befriends them in a fairytale land. The show ran for a year on Broadway, starting in December 2008. Music is by Jeanine Tesori ("Caroline, or Change") and lyrics are by David Lindsay Abaire ("Rabbit Hole"). The tour version was reportedly reworked somewhat, including how the dragon is portrayed. The show earned eight Tony nominations, winning one.

"Billy Elliot the Musical," Nov. 27-Dec. 2. Based on a 2000 movie about a coal miner's son who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes but must hide it from his disapproving father. The show opened in London in May 2005, arriving on Broadway in November 2008. It's still running in London. Music is by Elton John, lyrics by Lee Hall, who wrote the movie screenplay. The show won 10 Tonys, including best musical.

"Memphis," Jan. 15-20, 2013. Winner of the best-musical Tony in 2010, the show follows a white radio disc jockey in the 1950s who insists on putting local black rock'n'roll musicians on the air, then falls in love with Felicia, a black singer. Music is by David Bryan (Bon Jovi's keyboardist), Joe DiPietro ("All Shook Up") wrote book and lyrics.

"The Lion King," March 12-April 7, 2013. Based on the 1994 Disney animated film, this blockbuster opened on Broadway in October 1997 and is still playing. It set records in Omaha in early 2007 during a four-week run. Music is by Elton John, with lyrics by Tim Rice ("Evita," "Beauty and the Beast"). The show won six Tonys, including best musical.

"The Addams Family," May 14-19, 2013. Andrew Lippa ("The Wild Party") wrote the music about this macabre family celebrated on a TV series in the 1960s. The script is by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice ("Jersey Boys"). It's based on cartoonist Charles Addams' characters. The show opened on Broadway in April 2010, running about 20 months. It earned two Tony nominations, but won neither.

"Beauty and the Beast," Dec. 14-16. Like "The Lion King," this musical based on a Disney animated movie has lyrics by Tim Rice, who co-wrote with Howard Ashman on this one. The show was last at the Orpheum in May 2010. It opened on Broadway in 1994 and was a smash, playing until 2007. It was nominated for nine Tonys, winning one.
