Power play pushes Lancers to win

Power play prowess propelled the Omaha Lancers to a 4-1 United States Hockey League victory Saturday night over the Youngstown Phantoms. The Lancers scored three of their goals with a one-man advantage before a crowd of 3,128 at Civic Auditorium. That’s a phase of the game the 31-18-7 Lancers have been working hard on in recent weeks, and head coach Bliss Littler was glad to see his team rewarded for that work.

One goal enough for Liau, Lancers

Omaha and Waterloo sent 61 pucks to the net Saturday night, but only one managed to make it past the goal line. Fortunately for the Lancers, it was a shot by Jonathan Liau that rolled in with less than three minutes to play in Omaha's 1-0 USHL victory. It's not surprising that Liau was the guy who set off the only scoring celebration for the majority of the 3,686 at Civic Auditorium.
