Evans finishes 6th in 800 free at California meet
Janet Evans woke up in New York on Thursday and ended her day in a California pool, finishing sixth in the 800-meter freestyle as part of the 40-year-old swimmer's comeback for the London Olympics. Evans was at an East Coast event for sponsor BMW until midnight and then caught a 6 a.m. flight home.

Phelps dominates 200 IM to win final race in Indy
Michael Phelps finished at Indianapolis just the way he wanted — with another resounding victory. On an emotional night for the 26-year-old swimmer and his family, Phelps beat his biggest rival by more than three seconds and swam the best 200 IM in the world this year, beating the previous best time by nearly two seconds. He won the race in a startling 1 minute, 56.32 seconds.

Medley might be back in mix for Phelps
Maybe Michael Phelps isn't finished swimming the 400 IM after all. Certainly not if his mother has a say in the discussion. The Baltimore native slashed more than four seconds off his season-best time Friday and held off a late charge from Tyler Clary to win his second race in two days at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. Besides, could he really disappoint mom?

U.S. coach set in newest role
Frank Busch refers to it as looking through a "different lens" with the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials about three months away from returning to Omaha. Four years ago, Busch was coach at the University of Arizona and head of Tucson Ford Dealers Aquatics. Everything revolved around trying to get his swimmers on the U.S. team for the Beijing Games.

Adrian still hungry for own Olympic moment
Like everyone else, Nathan Adrian was jumping in disbelief and joy when Jason Lezak reeled in the French swimmer to claim gold for the U.S. during the 400 freestyle relay at the 2008 Olympics. Adrian had a little more reason to be excited than most people, though. He had swam in the preliminary heats for the Americans the previous day, and as a result of Lezak's Herculean effort, took home a gold medal, too.

Race, proposal go according to plan
As competitions go, the USA Swimming Grand Prix meet last month was decidedly low-key, another in a series of mile markers leading to the Olympic trials in Omaha in June. So why, before the 100-meter backstroke final, did Matt Grevers feel as nervous as he had at the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing?

Miksch wins twice at regionals
Ryan Miksch of Columbus Scotus won his second event of the USA Swimming Central Section, Region VIII meet Sunday in the 100-meter freestyle. The Minnesota recruit already has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in that event. Miksch also was a member of the Greater Omaha Aquatics 400 freestyle relay team that finished first in 3:33.64. Miksch, who led off in 51.64, was joined by Jacob Malocek, Connor Magee and Will Raynor on the quarter that qualified for the U.S. Junior National this summer.
