Outdoor Ice Skating Rink Opens at UNMC

Rink hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays. Admission charged. For holiday hours or inclement weather closing, call 559-0697.

Winter Wonderland Lighting Ceremony

Mayor David Black will light up the city at 6 p.m.
The evening also will feature free carriage rides, hot chocolate and popcorn. Children can visit Santa Claus. Mrs. Claus will read stories at the Sump Memorial Library at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

WorldFest 2010

Free and open to the public. Each child will receive a complimentary photo with Santa, who will arrive at 11:55 a.m. for a grand march with all the children. Vendors and two charities will be there, too.

Fall Semester Art Classes

Painting, pottery, drawing, dance, drums, acting, guitar, piano, violin, and much, much more for $6/weekly class! Arts For All, a non-profit arts education program, is now registering for its fall semester. Six convenient locations throughout Omaha.

Film Series -- Great Directors: Chaplin

A 10-film series celebrating the legendary Charlie Chaplin, featuring such family-friendly classics as "The Circus," "City Lights," "The Goldl Rush" and "Modern Times."

"Peter Pan - The Musical"

Thursday and Fridays at 7 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. “Think lovely thoughts,” says Peter Pan, as he gives Wendy, Michael and John Darling the power to fly and leads them all the way to Neverland.

Free Admission to Joslyn Art Museum

lightPLAY: A Celebration of Holiday Magic

During the 15-minute show, lights in seasonal shapes and a rainbow of colors dance and swirl to the music of Omaha-based Mannheim Steamroller. Performed several times daily.

Nebraska/Iowa Railroaders have a huge 6000 sq. ft. working display of model trains that include Thomas the Tank engine! It's FREE, but donations are appreciated.

Gretna’s Singing Christmas Tree

Second- through fourth-graders will present this music and storytelling event. Performances will be given at 7 p.m. Nov. 26, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 27 and 3 p.m. Nov. 28. Tickets, available at the door, will be $5, but children younger than 5 get in free.

Little Red Barn Christmas Open House

Have a picture taken of your little darlings on an adorable pony for your Christmas Pictures. While you're there, enjoy a free petting zoo and $4 pony rides.

Cancer Research Gift Exchange

For 10 years, Bobbie Mischke of Omaha has had a holiday season fundraiser for cancer research and this year is no different. In exchange for a check made out to Cancer Research, Mischke will give the donor a gift worth the approximate value of the check.
