KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) — The Buffalo County weed superintendent’s vacation backlog has been growing like, well, a weed.
And his bosses on the county Board of Supervisors are ready to pull rank and order him to take off some of that paid time.
Weed superintendent Dick Kincaid has amassed 688 hours — nearly 450 hours more than the maximum allowed.
He says his inexperienced staffers need him too badly for him to rest and relax.
At the county board meeting this week, Supervisor Hoss Dannehl suggested that Kincaid be told to work only eight hours each week from Dec. 1 through March. Dannehl says that would bring down Kincaid to the maximum allowable backlog of 240 hours.
The board tabled the issue until next month.
