Matthew Sherrett affected many

By Sue Story Truax / WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Funeral services will be Saturday morning for Matthew L. Sherrett of Plattsmouth. The 25-year-old died Nov. 20 after a severe asthma attack, said his father, Mike Sherrett of Plattsmouth.

Matthew Sherrett was slumped over when his roommate found him Nov. 19 in their Plattsmouth apartment, the father said. The roommate called for help and did cardiopulmonary resuscitation until a rescue crew arrived and took Sherrett to the Bellevue Medical Center.

He had so many friends up there at the hospital waiting room, all of those young people standing around crying, Mike Sherrett said. He really affected a lot of people.

At Plattsmouth High School, Matthew Sherrett participated in football, basketball and shot put. He also helped with school plays, doing stage work. He graduated in 2004.

Sherrett attended Metropolitan Community College and wanted to get into construction, his father said. Matthew Sherrett worked at American Fence Co.

He is survived by his parents, Mike and Linda Sherrett of Plattsmouth; sisters Linella Sherrett of Omaha and Kelly Goetz of Aurora, Colo.; brother Terry Sherrett of Littleton, Colo.; and grandmother Helene Kalous of Omaha.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. at Gospel Satellite Church, 13th and Hickory Streets in Omaha.
