Anyone who would like to wear a distinctive piece of jewelry and help soldiers who have been disabled in Iraq or Afghanistan and their families can check out the From Soldier to Soldier Bracelets.
Omaha's Elisa Ilana Jewelry is carrying the bracelets produced by LoveLinksAmerica. They are available at the store or online at www.elisailana.com.
The survival bracelets are made of tightly braided parachute cord. The button clasp symbolizes military uniforms. The bracelet when clasped represents the bond among soldiers that can never be broken. To some, each knot in the bracelet symbolizes a fallen hero.
For each bracelet sold, $25 goes to Homes for Our Troops, a national nonprofit organization that builds specially adapted homes for service members who have been severely injured in combat since 9/11. The homes, which are designed individually to give maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live independently, are constructed at no cost to the veterans or their families.
Elisa Ilana Jewelry started selling the bracelets about July4, said Cindy Kluck, creative director. "We've sold a ton of them already."
She especially was happy about donating money to Homes for Our Troops. "It's a wonderful organization," Kluck said.

The bracelets, which come in various styles and colors, apparently have caught on with celebrities. Photos of Jennifer Love Hewitt, Seth Green, Carrie Ann Inaba, Michael Chiklis and many others modeling the jewelry can be found on the From Soldier to Soldier Bracelet website.
