Iowa State Fair organizers said Sunday that the canceled Sugarland concert will not be rescheduled. Ticketholders will be refunded.
The grandstand show featuring Sugarland with Sara Bareilles had been scheduled Sunday night, but the country duo canceled the concert after a deadly incident at the Indiana State Fair.
Before the band's performance at the Indiana State Fair on Saturday, a stage collapsed during a powerful storm, killing at least five people and injuring more than four dozen among Sugarland fans.
Iowa State Fair spokeswoman Lori Chappell said Sunday, "Aside from coping with the magnitude of the accident, the ongoing investigation prevents the band from getting what may remain of their stage equipment."
Sunday night's fireworks display will be dedicated to the victims of the stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair, and a moment of silence will be observed at the fair on Monday morning, Chappell said.
People can return tickets purchased at the fair's box office of a Ticketmaster outlet for a refund. Phone and internet ticket purchases through Ticketmaster will be returned automatically. Refunds will be available for 30 days. More information is available by calling (800) 745-3000. — Sam Womack
