Verizon's sweet promotion

Verizon is pulling a page from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" to mark the launch of its 4G LTE network in Omaha and Council Bluffs.

Thursday, at Verizon's retail store at 72nd and Dodge Streets in Omaha, the first 100 customers in the door will receive chocolate bars. Four of those bars will include a "golden ticket."

The four customers who get golden tickets each will be given a Samsung Droid Charge, one of the three smartphones that runs on Verizon's zippy network.

Verizon has touted its 4G LTE, or fourth generation long-term evolution, network as up to 10 times faster than the company's 3G offering.

The network will include most of Omaha and Council Bluffs and will run west along Interstate 80 to Ashland, Neb.
