PAXTON, Neb. (AP) — Students in the Paxton school district are getting a few extra days of summer vacation because a construction project delayed the start of the school year until Monday.
Originally school was scheduled to start Thursday. Superintendent Del Dack said the delay will allow teachers extra time to get settled.
The school has been undergoing extensive renovations over the past year as part of an $8.2 billion bond issue. Five new classrooms, a kitchen, music room and shop area are being added and the heating and cooling system is being upgraded as part of the project.
The project will continue into the fall with workers building a new gym. It should be completed by the end of October.
