A $1.35 million grant has been awarded to the state for repairs to the Cowboy Trail across northern Nebraska, a spokesman for Rep. Jeff Fortenberry, R-Neb., said Friday.
The grant was awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in light of the severe damage done to parts of the trail in the summer of 2010 because of flooding along the Elkhorn River.
The federal government will provide 75 percent of the grant funds, or about $1.01 million, with the state responsible for the remainder.
This funds will allow the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to repair damage to the trail because of heavy rains and flooding.
