RSS stands for Rich Site Summary, RDF Site Summary, Really Simple Syndication or all three depending on what you read. Most people just call it RSS. RSS lets you keep up with what's new on your favorite Web sites.
RSS programs use an XML-based format (we use RSS 2.0) to create a continually updating list of links that you can subscribe to. The list changes whenever the WEB site changes, such as when we update our home page or add stories to a news section. The World-Herald's RSS feeds contain headlines, summaries, and hyperlinks to the full articles in the Online Edition.

You can install a news reader (also called an aggregator) to collect and display your RSS feeds on your computer. There are many news readers available, most at no charge. Once you download a news reader, follow its instructions to add feeds. This usually involves clicking on the orange XML button next to the feed you want and copying and pasting the URL from the resulting page into your news reader. Other news readers have an automated process for adding feeds. You may want to experiment with several news readers to find the one you like best.

An alternative to downloading a news reader is to use a Web-based reader such as that available through My Yahoo! And My MSN. Just follow the instructions on the Web site of your choice.

Online Edition RSS feeds are based on content published on the Omaha.com home page and the Online Edition sections. They are updated continually.
To subscribe to World-Herald feeds, select from the list above on this page. Click on the orange XML button and follow your news reader's instructions. (Note: You will see a page full of code, which you can ignore. It's the page address or URL at the top that your news reader will require.)
